What is Botox® and how does it work?Botox® is an FDA approved purified protein, which is injected into targeted muscles and temporarily blocks nerve signals that cause muscle movements. This relaxes muscles, which reduces or eliminates fine lines and wrinkles. Within 3-5 days of the Botox injection, the treated facial muscles start to become temporarily relaxed, causing the skin to lay flat and unwrinkled. Botox injections only take a few minutes and will remain effective for approximately 3-4 months.
Botox can help you achieve a more youthful, radiant appearance by improving the appearance of wrinkles in the forehead, frown lines, crow's feet, and radial lip lines. Botox can give the appearance of a brow lift in some individuals. |

How quickly will I see a difference after Botox treatment?
Results may be noticeable as early as one to two days after injection, but may take up to 2 weeks in some individuals. How long can I expect my Botox results to last? Visible results have been shown to last 3-4 months. Your own results may vary. What are the possible side effects of Botox? The use of Botox is very safe, however, as with any medical procedure there are possible risks and side effects to be aware of when using Botox. Of those that occur, the majority are those found after any type of injection - redness, bruising, and swelling. Why do dentists provide Botox treatment? The American Academy of Facial Esthetics (where Dr. Biever received her training) considers dentists as the “real facial specialists” for Botox treatment, because they have extensive training in facial anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. How much does Botox cost and how many units will I need? The cost for Botox treatment is $11 per unit. The number of units may vary based on size, shape, and depth of lines and wrinkles.
